Why did God give Israel the covenant promises according to Romans 9:5?

According to the context, God gave Israel the covenant promises so that Christ could come, not only as Israel's Messiah, but as the Savior of the whole human race. This was the eighth aspect of Israel's advantages in Romans 9:5.

Les explains that Romans 9:4-5 covers seven things intrinsic to the nation of Israel regarding God's covenant promises. The eighth part, in verse 5, is that it was all brought about so that Christ could come, not just to be the Messiah of Israel, but to be the Savior of the whole human race. Les also stresses that Paul's epistles are the bedrock of our Christian faith and give a clear view of salvation by grace, through faith, plus nothing.

Romans 9:5
