What role would the nation from Abraham play in God's plan of redemption?
God promised Abraham that from him would come a distinct nation, Israel, which would become the vehicle through whom God would communicate and bring the whole plan of redemption to the entire human race. The Abrahamic covenant also promised greatness, a geographical land, and God as king and government.
Les explains that after the first 2,000 years of human history covered in Genesis 1–11, God does something totally different in Genesis 12. Out of the one race of Adam, He picks one man, Abraham, in Ur of the Chaldeans. Abraham was originally a Syrian, though he became the father of the Jewish people, and God promised that out of him He would bring a nation of people totally different from any other race on earth. That nation, Israel, would be the vehicle through which God would communicate and bring about the whole plan of redemption to the whole human race. The Abrahamic covenant also promised that God would make of Abraham a great nation, put them in a geographical area of land, and one day come to be their king and government.
