Why do we no longer have to cry for mercy?

The need to cry for mercy is gone because God poured out His mercy on Christ at the cross. His mercy has already been poured out, so He now gives grace—unmerited favor—to those who deserve none of it.

Les explains that grace could never have happened if it were not for mercy. Because God poured out His mercy on Christ at the cross, that mercy has already been poured out. Therefore, the believer no longer has to cry for mercy; instead, God can now give grace, which is unmerited favor. Les stresses that there is nothing in us that can merit any favor with God—it is all of His grace. We are more than conquerors not through our own ability or what we have, but because Christ Jesus becomes everything.
