When did Paul think he ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth?

Paul thought this during his pre-salvation experience, while he was persecuting believers at Jerusalem. He verily thought with himself that he ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth, and he acted on it in Jerusalem, imprisoning many saints after receiving authority from the chief priests.

In Acts 26:9-10, Les explains that Paul is describing his pre-salvation experience, when he was persecuting believers at Jerusalem. Paul says he verily thought with himself that he ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth, and he carried it out. Verse 10 adds that he shut up many saints in prison, having received authority from the chief priests. That authority meant he was put in a position where he could do what he was doing.

Acts 26:9

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
