What makes a how-to-be-saved message bypass the Gospel?

A how-to-be-saved message bypasses the Gospel when it omits the cross, Christ's death, and His resurrection. What it says may not be diabolically wrong, but the issue is what it does not say. Without those central facts, it is not the Gospel.

Les explains that a person trying to lay out how to be saved can state things that are not diabolically wrong, yet the message still bypasses the Gospel because of what it omits. In the format he saw, there was not one word about the cross, not one word about Christ's death, and not one word about His resurrection. Les says he is not going to stop, because this is the Gospel, that Christ died, was buried, and rose again. He also notes that people in church all their lives had never heard the Gospel until they heard that Christ died for them and rose from the dead in power, majesty, and glory. People aren't hearing that anymore.
