How do whosoever will may come and divine election fit together?
God declares both truths together: the invitation says whosoever will may come, while those who enter are chosen before the foundation of the world. Every individual has opportunity of choice, but no one can choose unless God calls and elects them. The seeming contradiction is left for God to settle.
Les teaches that the two truths run side by side down the river of time. As the human race moves through time, there is a constant invitation to enter the door that says, "whosoever will may come." Once a person goes through that door, the other side reveals they were chosen from before the foundations of the world. Les admits this is hard to reconcile. He shares a Bible scholar's counsel: if this is what God says, believe it, do not argue with it or try to reconcile it, but leave it with God to settle. Theologians still argue, so believers should keep both truths in view. If you get too taken by either one, you are out in left field. The balance is that every individual has opportunity of choice, yet they cannot choose unless God calls and elects them.
