What is the Holy Spirit doing for us in Romans 8?
In Romans 8, the Holy Spirit is interceding on behalf of believers. The context also shows all three persons of the Trinity involved in our prayer line, constantly working for us. God searches the hearts and knows the mind of the Spirit, so the Spirit’s intercession is recognized by God.
Les teaches that back in Romans chapter 8, the Holy Spirit is interceding on behalf of us. He connects this to the broader work of the Trinity: all three persons are involved even in our prayer line, and all three are working for us constantly. Les notes that a little later in the chapter Paul writes, "Well if God be for us, who can be against us?" He also points to Romans 8:27, where the one who searches the hearts knows the mind of the Spirit. God works in the area of the heart, which we cannot look at or judge in one another, but God searches the heart and knows the Spirit’s mind.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
