What is the indwelling Holy Spirit a mark of?
The indwelling Holy Spirit is God's mark of ownership, sealing believers as His possession. It is the Holy Spirit of promise, the earnest or down payment of their inheritance. This branding demarks that they belong to God, confirming His ownership.
Les explains that just as a brand marks ownership in ranching, the indwelling Holy Spirit is God's mark of ownership for the believer. After a person believes, God seals and brands them with the Holy Spirit of promise. This Spirit is the earnest, or down payment, of their inheritance. Salvation is not marked by church membership or baptism, but by God's sealing with His Holy Spirit.
