Where did sin and death begin, and what happened when Adam ate?

Sin and death began when Adam ate. As soon as he ate, he sinned, and the moment he sinned, death came. Since Adam took that first bite, sin and death have been tied together, and the only remedy is the Gospel: Christ died, was buried, and rose again.

Les explains that sin and death are an everyday experience for the whole world and are so tied together. He asks where it all began and answers: when Adam ate. Just as soon as Adam ate, he sinned; the minute he sinned, death came. Ever since Adam took that first bite, sin and death have been tied together, and there is only one remedy—the Gospel that Christ died, was buried, and rose from the dead. Les also warns that clichés such as “just take Jesus into your life” circumvent the Gospel, and he recalls overdone hell, fire, and brimstone preaching that scared people.
