What does Romans chapter 4 teach about justification?

Romans chapter 4 teaches justification by faith. It lays out that Abraham believed God, and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. This establishes justification by faith, which then leads into chapter 5, where being justified by faith, we have peace with God.

Les explains that Romans chapter 4 begins to lay out justification by faith. He ties it to the first three chapters, where God proved the whole race utterly sinful and rebellious, concluding in chapter 3 verse 23 that all have sinned and come short in glory. In chapter 4, Abraham believed God, and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. Then chapter 5 says, “therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God.” Les also notes that chapter 6 enlarges on justification, showing it was accomplished when Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again.
