What does Paul mean when he calls Jesus the Son of God after the seed of David, but with power?

Paul means Jesus is both the promised descendant of David and the Son of God, whose divine Sonship is demonstrated by miraculous power over nature. Examples include calming the wind and sea, walking on water, knowing the tax money was in a fish, and filling the disciples’ nets after a catchless night.

Les explains that in Romans Paul refers to Jesus as the Son of God after the seed of David, but with power. He points to Christ’s miracles over nature: He spoke and the wind died down and the sea became calm, causing the twelve to ask what manner of man He was. Jesus walked on the water, and Peter sank when he took his eyes off Him. Jesus knew tax money was in a fish’s mouth. In John’s Gospel, after the disciples caught nothing all night, He told them to cast the net on the other side, and it came up full without breaking. Les says these displays of power over nature, fish, and circumstance are what Paul means.
