People in spiritual darkness know Satan and the powers of evil. They fear the powerful works of the evil one, as with witch doctors who had power. Yet they know nothing of the power of God; they remain ignorant of His power.
Les teaches that missionaries returning from foreign fields described people in spiritual darkness who knew Satan and the powers of evil. They feared witch doctors because those men had power. The people knew how to fear the powerful works of the evil one, but they knew nothing of the power of God. Their awareness of the spiritual realm was therefore limited to evil’s reality and terror, not God’s power.
