Did God's covenant with Abraham continue through Ishmael or Isaac?
God's covenant with Abraham continued through Isaac, not Ishmael. The promise and covenants were explicitly carried forward through the promised son, Isaac, rather than through Ishmael. Scripture thus identifies Isaac as the heir of the Abrahamic promise, confirming that God's covenant line ran through him.
Les explains that the promise to Abraham included the fact that the covenants would continue, not through Ishmael, but through the promised son, Isaac. This statement comes as the conclusion of what was just finished in the previous program, reinforcing that the covenant line is identified with Isaac rather than Ishmael.
