Why did Paul write, If God be for us, who can be against us?
Paul wrote this because all three persons of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—are constantly working and interceding on behalf of believers. The Holy Spirit intercedes, and Jesus Christ the Righteous is our advocate with the Father, so no opposition can ultimately prevail against those God is for.
Les explains that in Romans chapter 8, all three persons of the Trinity are involved in our prayer line. The Holy Spirit is interceding on behalf of us, and we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous, who is there 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Because all three persons are constantly working on our behalf, Paul could confidently write, 'If God be for us, who can be against us?' This assurance rests on the fact that God hears every believer individually, not as a mumble jumble of voices, and He searches the hearts and knows the mind of the Spirit.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

If it is true that we have been justified, glorified, and forgiven, then the conclusion is that if God is for us no one can be against us, and that is where God wants us to rest.
