Why did God subject creation to the curse, and what remedy did He provide?

Scripture declares creation was made subject to vanity not willingly, but by reason of Him who subjected it in hope. As soon as the curse fell, God declared a remedy: through the Redeemer, the Son, and the seed of the woman.

Les explains that when the curse fell, the present-day ecology was set up, so that one species feeds on another; leopards stalk deer, and birds rob other birds' nests. That is not how God created it, but is the result of the curse. Creation itself is aware it was subjected to the curse and that a day is coming when the curse will be lifted. Paul writes in Romans 8 that the creature was made subject to vanity not willingly, but by reason of Him who subjected the same in hope. As soon as the curse fell, God said He had a remedy—through the Redeemer, through the Son, and through the seed of the woman.
