What is the condition for a person to be in the Spirit and not in the flesh?

The condition is genuine salvation, evidenced by the indwelling Holy Spirit. If a person has truly experienced salvation and the Spirit of God dwells in them, they are not in the flesh but in the Spirit and in Christ, positionally changed and now a child of God.

Les explains that the condition is “if so be”—if it has happened, if you have genuinely experienced salvation, if the Spirit of God dwells in you. This indwelling Holy Spirit is the proof of eternal life, the proof of the pudding. Those who are in the Spirit are no longer under old Adam’s control; they are in Christ, their position has changed, they are no longer in the flesh but are children of God, even while still in the body.
