What is the big difference between living under the Law of Moses and living under the Law of the Spirit?
The big difference is that the Law of Moses had no power to help mankind keep it; all it could do was condemn. Living under the Law of the Spirit is different because the Spirit indwells the believer, as referenced in I Corinthians 3 and 6.
Les teaches that Hebrews 8 contrasts the first covenant, the Law of Moses, with the new covenant. If that first covenant had been faultless, no second would be needed, but it was faulty from mankind’s perspective because man could not keep it. The Law had no power to help mankind keep the Law; it could not stop stealing or adultery, and all it could do was condemn. Romans 8 then points to living under the Law of the Spirit. The big difference, Les explains, is that the Spirit indwells us, as seen in I Corinthians 3 and 6.
