Is there anything besides faith that is required for salvation?

Scripture teaches that salvation is faith plus nothing. No human energy, no human merit, and no works are required to enter the Body of Christ. Adding any condition, such as walking in the Spirit, would distort the gospel. Faith alone, apart from human effort, is the sole requirement.

Les explains that salvation is faith plus nothing—no human energy, no human merit. He notes that the phrase 'who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit' does not belong in verse 1; the earliest manuscripts do not have it there, and scholars agree. If left in verse 1, it would make walking in the Spirit the way one gets into Christ, which is not how we entered the Body of Christ. Instead, it belongs in verse 4, describing the believer's walk, where the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us because of what God did in verse 3 by sending His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to condemn old Adam. So faith alone is the requirement; Spirit-walking is the result, not the condition.
