What does it mean that you are the temple of God?
Being the temple of God means the believer is the dwelling place of God, and the Spirit of God dwells within. Because Christ is bodily at the Father's right hand, His indwelling is through the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. This makes Christ and the body of believers one.
Les explains from 1 Corinthians 3:16 that believers are the temple or dwelling place of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in them. He notes the opposite direction: not only are we in Christ, but He is in us. Since Christ is bodily at the Father's right hand and cannot leave that bodily position, Christ being in us must be through the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. Les emphasizes this truth is plain and believable to those who love the Word because it is practical and experiential—we know it has happened. He also points out that when Scripture repeats something in short order, it is emphasizing the point.
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
