What are believers expected to know from 1 Corinthians 3:16?

Believers are expected to know that they are the temple, the dwelling place of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in them. Since Christ is bodily at the Father's right hand and cannot leave that bodily, His indwelling presence is through the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity.

Les teaches that 1 Corinthians 3:16 asks, 'Don't you know?' indicating it is expected that believers know. The verse says they are the temple or dwelling place of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in them. Les explains that while we are in Christ, He is also in us, but since Christ is bodily at the Father's right hand and cannot leave that bodily, Christ's indwelling is through the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. The world knows nothing of this, but for those who love and know the Word, it is plain, believable, practical, and experiential—we know it has happened. Les also notes that when Scripture repeats something in short order, as in 1 Corinthians 6, it is emphasizing the point.
