What is the gospel, and does it require anything besides belief in Christ's death and resurrection?

The gospel is simply believing that Christ died for me and rose from the dead—plus nothing for salvation. It does not require the Judaic system, legalism, or works. Good works follow salvation, since believers are created unto good works, but they are never a condition for salvation.

Les explains that when God introduced the gospel of grace, Gentiles were set free from the Judaic system and its legalism. He stresses that the gospel is simply believing Christ died for me and rose from the dead—plus nothing for salvation. Yet salvation is not the end: believers move on, created unto good works, with the indwelling Holy Spirit and Christ as head of daily living. Old Adam no longer has dominion because we are under grace, not law. Les notes God has dealt with the whole human race on the basis of grace for over 1900 years, though very few really understand it.
