What comes out of a kernel of wheat after it dies?

After a kernel of wheat is planted, buried, and dies, it brings forth much fruit. Out of that death comes a new green shoot, and from that shoot comes the stem and perhaps a hundred kernels. This illustration points to death, burial, and resurrection producing fruit.

Les explains that Jesus was speaking only about forty-eight hours before the cross. Philip and Andrew had told Him Gentiles wanted to see Him, but Jesus answered that the hour had come for the Son of Man to be glorified, speaking of His death, burial, and resurrection. He used the common, everyday example of a kernel of wheat. If left in a granary, it never reproduces. It must be planted, which is burying it. Then moisture, sunshine, and nature's activity cause it to die and rot. Out of that death comes a new green shoot; from that shoot comes the stem and maybe a hundred kernels. Les teaches this illustrates His own death, burial, and resurrection.
