Les Feldick Bible Study

Why are we flesh and blood and under the curse?

Humanity is flesh and blood and under the curse because we are sons of Adam and have borne the image of the earthy. The earthy is earthy, and its natural condition carries the curse. Flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom; corruption cannot inherit incorruption, so a new body is required.

Les explains that the earthy are earthy, and because we are sons of Adam we have borne the image of the earthy. That means we are flesh and blood and under the curse, a condition around us everywhere we go. As we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly, moving from the natural state to the spiritual state. Verse 50 declares that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Therefore we must have a new body, fashioned after Christ’s body, especially after the resurrection. That glorious body will not be contained by walls, ceilings, or space, and yet there may still be pleasures such as eating, because Christ ate on the shores of Galilee. Paul lays this out to establish basic doctrine, especially for Gentiles.

1 Corinthians 15:49

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
