For whom did Christ die 'in due time' according to Romans 5?

In due time Christ died for the ungodly, those without God. The prefix 'un-' means without, so this includes people who may be good, respectable, or even church members but who have never experienced God's saving grace. Christ died for all who are without God in their lives.

Les teaches that 'in due time' Christ died for the ungodly, meaning those without God. He compares this to Israel at the Red Sea: they were locked in, without strength, and helpless; God told them to stand still and wait for His power, then opened the sea. Before salvation, we too were without strength, without hope, and helpless, and God opened the way through His grace. The term 'ungodly' does not necessarily mean people on skid row; the prefix 'un-' means without. They may be good people, the epitome of society, or the best of church members, but if they have never experienced God's saving grace, they are ungodly because they are without God in their lives. So Christ died for those without God, the down-and-outer, the up-and-outer, and everything in between.
