What did God plan before creation?
In eternity past, before anything was ever created, the triune God agreed on creation, on mankind knowing man would sin, and set up the plan of salvation. This eternal purpose included the Son coming down to die and be raised from the dead.
Les explains that Paul is writing to Timothy, but the truth applies to every believer: God saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose. That purpose reaches back to eternity past. Before anything was ever created, the triune God held a meeting—not because they needed to debate, but they agreed on creation, on mankind, knowing man would sin, and they set up the plan of salvation. Out of that plan the Son would come down, die, and be raised from the dead. All of this is part of the eternal purpose God implemented before creation.
