What is the outcome of the war in heaven in Revelation 12?
At the midpoint of the seven years, war breaks out in heaven. Michael and his angels fight against the dragon, Satan, and his angels. The dragon and his angels do not prevail; no place remains for them in heaven, and Satan is cast out into the earth.
Les explains that Revelation 12:7-9 fits the midpoint of the tribulation, at the end of the first three and a half years, when a whole series of events occur almost simultaneously. He notes that Michael and his angels fought against the dragon—Satan—and his angels. Verse 8 declares they prevailed not, and their place was no longer found in heaven. The great dragon, that old serpent called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world, was cast out into the earth. Les stresses taking this literally.
