What did Apollos realize despite being highly educated and eloquent in the Scriptures?

Despite being highly educated, polished, and eloquent in the Scriptures, Apollos realized from two common tentmakers that there was much he did not know. He had not known the gospel of grace: that everything man needed was accomplished on the cross and the power of His resurrection.

Les explains that Apollos was highly educated, highly polished, and eloquent in the Scriptures, yet he suddenly realized from these two common tentmakers that there was a lot he didn't know. He had not known the tremendous gospel of grace—that everything man needed was accomplished on the cross and the power of His resurrection. Les encourages his own class people that if a church member kindly shows a pastor something from Scripture he is missing, a man of God like Apollos should be able to take it and say he never saw it before. After learning from this Jewish couple, Apollos took it to heart. When he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote exhorting the disciples to receive him, and he helped them much, who had believed not through John's message but through grace. He picked it up from Priscilla and Aquila, who got it from working with Paul.
