What should a believer do if they thought meat from a pagan sacrifice was tainted?

A believer who thought meat from a pagan sacrifice was tainted should not eat it. Pagan gods have no power to affect the meat, but if a person had any idea that an animal sacrifice to a pagan god had somehow been tainted, he was to refrain.

Les explains that in Paul's day, animals sacrificed in pagan temples often ended up in the marketplace. Paul himself was not bothered by such meat because pagan gods had no power and could not affect it. However, if a believer had any idea that the meat had been tainted by sacrifice to a pagan god, then the instruction was: don't eat of it.
