How was Paul stoned at Lystra?

At Lystra, Jews from Antioch and Iconium persuaded the people, and after stoning Paul they dragged him out of the city, supposing he was dead. He was unconscious from the stoning, and the account says he was left for dead outside the city.

Les teaches that after Paul and Barnabas fled to Lystra, Jews from Antioch and Iconium came and persuaded the people against Paul. They stoned him and dragged him out of the city, supposing he was dead. Les explains that Paul was unconscious from the stoning, and he suggests that while Paul was in that state, God gave him an even greater experience, tying the timing to 2 Corinthians chapter 12.

Acts 14:19

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
