What does God do to the nations in Psalm 2:5?

In Psalm 2:5, God speaks to the nations in His wrath and in His vexation, His sore displeasure. After the derision of verse 4, He addresses Jew and Gentile together, vexing them in His anger because they have rejected His Son.

Les teaches that Psalm 2 is the benchmark of prophecy and the outline of the Old Testament program. The chapter foretold the rejection and crucifixion, or at least the death, of God the Son by Jew and Gentile together. In verse 4, after they rejected Him, God who sits in the heavens laughs and holds the Jew and Gentile nations in derision. Verse 5 uses the time word “then”: then He speaks unto them in His wrath and in His vexation, or He will vex them, in His sore displeasure. Verse 6 then moves to the next part of the outline: God sets His King upon the holy hill of Zion and declares the decree, “Thou art my Son.”
