Where in Acts did Gentiles first become interested in the God of Israel?
In Acts chapter 11, at Antioch in Syria, Gentiles first became interested in the God of Israel. Jewish believers scattered from Jerusalem by persecution reached Antioch, and there God began to generate Gentile interest; this had not occurred in earlier chapters of Acts.
Les explains that after Saul’s conversion in Acts 9 and Peter’s visit to Cornelius in Acts 10, chapter 11 shows Jewish believers who had been chased out of Jerusalem by Saul’s persecution getting as far as Antioch, up in Syria. There God began to generate interest among Gentiles for the first time. Earlier chapters of Acts do not show Gentiles coming and asking about the God of Israel, but at Antioch they were getting interested. When the Jerusalem church heard this, they sent Barnabas to check out what was happening.
