What did the believing Pharisees at Jerusalem say was needed for the Gentiles?

The believing Pharisees at Jerusalem insisted that Gentiles needed to be circumcised and commanded to keep the Law of Moses. They were Pharisees who had believed Jesus was the Christ and were members of the Jerusalem church, yet they still required circumcision and Law observance for Gentile believers.

Les explains that even in Jerusalem certain of the sect of the Pharisees arose, but these were not the whited sepulchers Jesus dealt with. They were believers—Pharisees who had believed that Jesus was the Christ and were members of that Jerusalem church. These Pharisees said it was needful to circumcise the Gentiles and to command them to keep the Law of Moses. This occurred 22 or 23 years after Pentecost, after Paul had been laboring among the Gentiles for 12 years. The Jewish believers of Jerusalem said Gentiles had to be circumcised and keep the Law, but Paul and Barnabas said no way. After much disputing, Peter rose up.

Acts 15:5

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
