What did God have in mind when He sent Peter to Cornelius's house?

God sovereignly sent Peter to Cornelius’s house with more in mind than just that small group in Caesarea. He intended the whole sphere of Christianity, not merely a local visitation to Gentiles, but a purpose extending far beyond that household.

Les explains that when Peter was sovereignly sent up to the Gentile house of Cornelius in Acts 10, God’s intention was not limited to that little group in Caesarea. God had in mind the whole sphere of Christianity. This broader purpose becomes evident in Acts 15, a parallel chapter to Galatians 2, where Paul had been among the Gentiles for several years establishing churches in Asia Minor and Antioch. The Jewish believers in Jerusalem, even those who had embraced Jesus as Messiah, still struggled to accept Gentile inclusion and remained law-keeping, expecting the King and Kingdom to come only through Israel.
