Who defended Paul when the Jewish leaders challenged his ministry to the Gentiles?
Peter defended Paul when the Jewish leadership challenged his ministry to the Gentiles. In Acts 15, after much disputation and arguing that Paul was wrong and a heretic, Peter came to his defense. He reminded the brethren that God had long ago used his mouth to take the Gospel to the Gentiles, which spared Paul's ministry.
Les teaches that the Sovereign God was setting the stage for the next great event in Acts. Although Peter witnessed the salvation of Cornelius' Gentile household earlier, it did not immediately lead to a Gentile mission. About twelve years later, in Acts 15, the Jewish leadership called Paul on the carpet for going to the Gentiles. After much disputation and arguing that Paul was wrong and a heretic, Peter came to his defense, reminding them that God had long ago used his mouth to take the Gospel to the Gentiles, and that spared Paul's ministry.
