What did people place their faith in during the early chapters of Acts?
In the early chapters of Acts, believers placed their faith in His Name, which signified who Jesus was: the Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah of Israel, and the Promised One from the Old Testament. That confession matched Peter, Martha, the Ethiopian eunuch, and others, who declared Him the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Les teaches that in the early chapters of Acts, people placed their faith in His Name, and that Name indicated who He was: He was the Christ, He was the Son of God. Les points out that this was the same confession Peter spoke, that Martha spoke, and that all the others, including the Ethiopian eunuch, said the same thing—that He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Even Saul of Tarsus was saved under the Kingdom Gospel, believing who Jesus was: the Son of God, the Messiah of Israel, the Promised One out of the Old Testament, coming to the Jews under the covenant promises. At that time, Les explains, that was enough, because that was as much as God had revealed at that time.
But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
