What did Peter and John do after witnessing the Samaritan revival in Acts 8?

After testifying and preaching the word of the Lord in Samaria, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem. As they journeyed back, they preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. Rather than spreading across the Roman Empire, they went back to Jerusalem.

Les explains that after the Samaritans responded, Peter and John did not immediately spread out across the Roman Empire. Instead, verse 25 says that when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem. On the way back they also preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. Les notes Samaria was only a few miles north of Jerusalem, so their return was not a distant missionary journey. The account then shifts to Philip, whom the angel of the Lord directed toward Gaza.

Acts 8:25
