Les Feldick Bible Study

Do you have to shout publicly to call on the Lord and be saved?

No, public shouting is not required. A person may verbally call on the Lord in private, such as in a prayer closet, while driving, or washing dishes, confessing, 'Lord, I'm a sinner, save me,' and believing that He has done everything needed. The promise is that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Les teaches that calling on the Lord does not require shouting to a crowd or from a housetop. It can be done privately in a prayer closet, while driving down the road, or washing dishes over the sink. The person verbally says, 'Lord I'm a sinner, save me, because I believe that You've done everything that needs to be done.' That is what verse 13 means. Les gives the illustration of a lifeguard who, despite noise and distractions, is trained to hear a feeble cry for help and immediately responds. In the same way, God is constantly listening for the feeble call of a sinner who says, 'I want to be saved,' and the second He hears it, He is there. That is what salvation is all about.
