What did Simon do after believing in Acts 8?
After believing, Simon was baptized and went the whole nine yards: he professed belief and evidently repented. He continued with Philip and wondered at the miracles and signs. He majored on signs and miracles, minoring on Christ, since signs had been his trade.
Les explains that Simon himself believed also, and when he was baptized, he went the whole nine yards. He professed believing, evidently did his repenting, and they baptized him. He continued with Philip and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Les points out that Simon was majoring on signs and miracles but minoring on the person of Christ. Because signs and miracles had been his trade, it was right down his alley, and he just jumped on that bandwagon. Les also notes that at that time baptism was tied to the Jewish message, but today baptism has no part in salvation; salvation must be the finished work of the cross plus nothing, so we rest totally on what Christ accomplished.
