Why does Les say the healing scene in Acts 5 is a repeat of the Gospels?
The Acts 5 healing scene repeats the Gospels because the twelve apostles were still carrying out the Gospel of the Kingdom to Israel, just as Jesus did in His earthly ministry. The same miraculous sign occurred: the sick were brought into the streets for healing, matching what happened when Jesus was on earth.
Les explains that in early Acts the message was still the Gospel of the Kingdom, based on the covenants and Christ’s earthly ministry. The twelve apostles were ministering to the nation of Israel, and multitudes were being added. He says, “if this isn’t a repeat of the Gospels, I don’t know what is,” because they brought the sick into the streets, exactly as they did when Jesus was on the earth. Later, when Israel continues to reject it, God turns to the Gentile through another apostle, introduced in chapter 9.
