Les Feldick Bible Study

Can someone be put to death in the Kingdom for rebelling against the King?

Yes, death is possible in the Kingdom, though not very likely. If someone commits a horrendous act of rebellion against the King, that is his potential fate; he will be suddenly taken off the scene. This was something these Jewish believers had to understand.

Les explains that the account of Ananias and Sapphira, who lied to the Holy Ghost and kept back part of the price of the land, is a better example of the circumstances in the Kingdom. Peter was dealing with Jewish believers in Jerusalem. While death is possible in the Kingdom, it is not very likely. However, if someone commits a horrendous act of rebellion against the King, that is his potential fate—he will be suddenly taken off the scene. Les prefers to think this is what these Jewish believers had to understand.
