How many years passed between the crucifixion and the destruction of the temple by Rome?

Forty years passed between the crucifixion and the Roman army's destruction of the temple. The book of Acts covers that 40-year period, during which God continued dealing with His covenant people Israel, even as He began turning to the Gentiles before the 40 years ended.

Les teaches that from the time of the crucifixion until the destruction of the temple by the Roman army was 40 years, and he says not to lose sight of that. The book of Acts is that 40-year period in which God is still dealing with His covenant people, even though He is going to start going to the Gentiles before the 40 years is up. At the end of those 40 years—which in Israel's history has always been a period of testing—Israel is still adamant in unbelief. So the sovereign God permits Rome to come in and destroy the city in the most awful siege in all of ancient history. They destroyed the temple, and Israel was sent into a dispersion among all the nations of the world, which has finally begun to come to an end, though it has not ended yet for the most part.
