Where will many people and strong nations come to seek the Lord according to Zechariah 8?

According to Zechariah 8:22, many people and strong nations will come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, to pray before the Lord. The passage says one city will invite another, urging people to go speedily to pray before the Lord and seek Him there.

Les explains that Zechariah chapter 8 is a passage looked at often because it is so explicit. Beginning in verse 20, it says people, the inhabitants of many cities, will come; one city will go to another, saying, “Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord and to seek the Lord of hosts.” Verse 22 then declares that many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, to pray before the Lord. This follows Isaiah’s statement that Gentiles would come to the light of Israel, and Israel’s light would be the Messiah. In the surrounding context, God was still dealing with the nation of Israel: if they repented of national sins and believed who Jesus was, the tribulation could have run its course, Christ could have returned, and Israel could have had the kingdom. Then Peter and the eleven knew that when that was fulfilled, they could take the gospel of the God of Abraham to the Gentile world, but not until. The twelve did not leave Jerusalem because it was to Jerusalem, to the Mount of Olives, that their king was going to imminently return. So Zechariah 8:22 locates this seeking of the Lord in Jerusalem.

Zechariah 8:20

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:

Zechariah 8:22

Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.
