When did God say He would do something totally different after the history of hopeless humanity?

At 2,000 B.C., after 2,000 years of hopeless humanity from Adam through the flood and Tower of Babel, God said He would do something totally different. He called out one man and promised to make a nation through whom salvation would return to humanity, forming the Abrahamic covenant.

Les explains that after 2,000 years of a hopeless race of humanity coming out of Adam, destroyed in the flood, and going back into paganism at the Tower of Babel, God finally, at 2,000 B.C., said in so many words and exasperation, “I’m going to do something totally different.” He would call out one man and from him bring a little nation. God would work through that nation, prepare them, and through them take salvation back to the whole mainstream of humanity. That was basically the Abrahamic covenant, in which He promised Abraham a nation of people, a geographical area of land, and at the appropriate time their king, government, and kingdom, so Israel could be the evangelization of the nations.
