To whom was Peter's call to repent and be converted addressed?

Peter's call to repent and be converted was addressed to the nation of Israel. He spoke to the covenant people who had rejected their Messiah through ignorance, urging national repentance so their sins could be blotted out and times of refreshing might come from the Lord's presence.

Les explains that Peter's call in Acts 3 was directed to the nation of Israel: "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, and the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." Peter had already acknowledged that Israel and their rulers acted through ignorance, not knowing who Jesus was, even though the Old Testament prophets had foretold His suffering, burial, resurrection, and ascension. Les teaches that Peter expected the Lord's immediate return to the nation of Israel if they would repent, but Peter also recognized they would have to go through the seven years of restitution of all things, the Tribulation period, before the times of restitution come.
