Why is it important to notice what Scripture does not say?

It is important because assuming something is in Scripture when it is not there makes people victims of error. Seeing what Scripture omits guards against reading into the text ideas it never states, such as Peter teaching that Christ is the head of the called-out assembly.

Les teaches that it is just as important to see what Scripture does not say as what it does say. He explains that many have been victims of assuming something is in Scripture when it is not there, and he says we do not have the right to do that. He illustrates this with Peter in Acts, who makes no mention that Christ is the head of the called-out assembly or that they are part of Him. By contrast, Paul in 1 Corinthians 12 presents the church as His body, with Christ as the head in heaven.
