On what basis did God save the Gentile believers in Acts 10?

God saved the Gentile believers in Acts 10 on the basis of believing Peter's message, not repentance and baptism. The moment they heard the Word and believed, the Holy Spirit fell on them before baptism, proving God was saving Gentiles apart from the Jewish economy.

Les explains that while Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell on all the Gentiles who heard the Word, and they believed. They had not been baptized yet, and they had not even heard of the Law. God had to prove to Peter and the six other men—seven Jews—that He was doing something totally new: saving Gentiles, not on the basis of repentance and baptism, but the moment they heard the Word and believed, and the Holy Spirit came down. Peter, still tied to the Jewish economy, then said they had to baptize them after the fact. This was not a contradiction of Acts 2; it was a change of events, with Acts 10 being Gentiles and Acts 2 still Jews.
