What would have happened if every Jew had accepted Christ as the Messiah in Acts 2?
If every Jew had accepted Christ as Messiah, God would have picked up where He left off with Israel and sent back the King to set up the kingdom. This required conversion of every Jew, as Peter preached repentance and baptism to Israel.
Les explains that when Peter answered Israel's question, the crucial words were "every one." That is what it would take for God to pick up where He had left off with the nation of Israel. Every Jew would have had to be converted and accept Christ as the Messiah. Then He would have sent back the king and set up the kingdom. That was the requirement. Peter's message of repentance and baptism was the same message John the Baptist preached as the herald of the king, and it was for the nation of Israel. But because Israel was rejecting it, God turned to the Gentiles. Later, Paul told the Gentile in Acts 16 to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved, not to repent and be baptized.
