Who is 'God' in Hebrews 1:1?
In Hebrews 1:1, 'God' refers to the triune God—the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. This same God spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, and in these last days has spoken by His Son.
Les teaches that in Hebrews 1:1, the term 'God' is that same term again, referring to the triune God, the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. This triune God spoke at sundry times and in diverse manners in times past unto the fathers—the forefathers of Israel, or the Old Testament—by the prophets. But it does not stop there; the same God has, in these last days, spoken unto us by His Son. Les clarifies that the 'last days' means the whole period from Christ's first advent to the end of the age, not just the Tribulation and Second Coming, which are the latter days. He also notes that although the Holy Spirit inspired Scripture, it is the words of God the Son, and the Apostle Paul repeatedly said he heard Him speaking to him—that is, Jesus.
