What did the psalmist foretell about Judas?
The psalmist foretold that Judas would betray and that he would fall by transgression. This prophecy did not remove Judas's free will; he had full opportunity to accept, but God's foreknowledge knew his choice, so the prophecy had to be fulfilled.
Les explains that Judas had been with the twelve for three years and served as treasurer, holding the bag. He had a part in the ministry but never a spiritual part, for Jesus said he was a devil or demon from the beginning. Judas fooled the other eleven but never fooled Jesus. David by inspiration prophesied Judas's betrayal. People suggest Judas never had a chance and was created to be the betrayer, but Les points out Judas was not put in that situation; he had as much choice as the others. God in His foreknowledge knew what Judas would do when given the opportunity, so prophecy foretold it. When prophecy foretells something, it must happen, otherwise the book becomes a lie. Yet never take away Judas's free will; he had full opportunity of accepting. The psalmist foretold he would betray and fall by transgression. Later Judas purchased a field with the reward of iniquity, taking the thirty pieces of silver back to the priest at the temple and throwing it at their feet because of his guilt. The priest knew it was blood money.
