Why will God send Jesus Christ after the cross?

After the cross, God will send Jesus Christ to be the King. Since the work of the cross was fulfilled, the one remaining purpose is for Him to reign as King. This will bring times of refreshing when Israel is converted and the Kingdom is established.

Les explains that in Acts 3, Peter preached that Israel must repent and be converted so their sins may be blotted out. The semicolon in verse 19 carries the thought into verse 20: when Israel is converted, times of refreshing will come from the Lord's presence, and then God will send Jesus Christ. The only purpose left for Christ is to be the King, because He has already fulfilled the work of the cross. The Holy Spirit was poured out on Jewish believers to continue seeing Israel converted to their rejected Messiah, not yet to evangelize the whole world.

Acts 3:20
